Pipe Sergeant Alastair Dunn

Alastair has a Masters Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He is presently a piping specialist at St. Kilda in Glasgow.
He won the Gold Medal at the Northern Meeting in Aviemore in September this year, the first Irishman ever to win the coveted award, and he also got
married to Margaret Houlihan!
He won the Grade B March at Oban in 2003 and the Northern Ireland Piper of the Year award in 2002. In 2004 Alastair won the Silver Medal at the
Northern Meeting also taking 2nd place in the Hompipe & Jig and 3rd place in the Silver Medal at the Argyllshire Gathering.
He was initially taught by Freddy Russell and now receives tuition from Roddy MacLeod, MBE. His favourite competition and concert pipe band is Simon Fraser University. His favourite set is Stevie’s First Bar and The Three Devils hornpipe by Ryan Canning.

Michael’s previous bands include Ogden Legion Pipe Band and Alberta Caledonia Pipe Band. His favourite competition bands include Victoria Police
Pipe Band and the ''Six in a Row'' Strathclyde Police Pipe Band. Bruce Gandy. Gordon Duncan, Donald MacLeod and Stu ( Pidasso ) Smith are his favourite composers. Michael’s own choice MSR set includes 93rd at Modder River, Caber Feidh and The Cockerel in the Creel. He enjoys solo piping and in particular listening to Gordon Walker, Angus McColl and Chris Armstrong. His favourite drinks include Molson Canadian, Stolichnaya and Tonic and Irn Brew for the morning after!!

Ryan Canning

Ryan won the Hompipe and Jig section at the Northern Ireland Piper of the Year in 2001. His favourite pipe band web site is Pipe Band Chicken. He was taught by P/M Vernon Hetherington and other major influences on his piping career have been Ivan Gillespie, Cohn Elder and his father, Freddie. His favourite composers are Gordon Duncan and Roddy MacDonald. Ryan’s favourite medley selection is Peel Regional Police Pipe Band’s from
1992 and 1993. Fred Morrison, Gordon Duncan, Chris Armstrong and Angus McColl are his favourite solo players. Ryan occasionally enjoys chips, cheese and curry sauce!!!
Gordon McCready

Occupation: Strathclyde Police Officer.

Gordon is a familiar face on the solo piping circuit in Scotland. He has won many prizes including the Silver Medal at Oban in 2004 along with Overall Winner at Dunrobin Castle the same year. He has previously won two British Championships in Grade l with Strathclyde Police Pipe Band. His major piping influences include Walter Drysdale, P/M Ian McLellan BEM, Kenneth MacDonald, Duncan Johnstone and Ronald Morrison. He is a keen Rangers supporter with his favourite player being the Ibrox legend Ally McCoist. To relax Gordon enjoys a pint at The Sundowner pub in his favourite town, Dunoon!!
