Our two recitalists relaxing at the beginning of the evening before treating us to a most enjoyable display of piping. Both of them included in their repertoire for the evening one complete piobaireachd and the ground of another. Alastair played Lament for Mary MacLeod and the ground of Salute to the Young Laird of Dungallon. Margaret played Lady's Salute and the ground of Lament for Captain MacDougall.

MARGARET HOULIHAN
Margaret began piping at the age of 8 and was initially taught by her father Con Houlihan and when she was 10 she began taking lessons from Stephen Power (ex Scots Guards). Margaret moved to Scotland when she was 17 and studied Piobaireachd with Andrew Wright. In 1998 she was accepted into the RSAMD where she studied for 4 years and graduated with an honours Degree in Scottish Traditional Music. While Margaret was at the Academy she also joined the Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia Pipe Band and, with them, won the World Championships in Grade 1 in 2002.
Prizes won to date include: 1st MacGregor Memorial Piobaireachd, (22 and under) Oban 1999. 1st B Grade March, Oban 1999. 1st Duncan Johnstone Memorial Piobaireachd 2001 1st B Grade Piobaireachd, Inverary 2003. 1st Strachan Memorial MSR, London 2000. 1st A Grade Strathspey and Reel,
Oban 2003. Runner up in Silver Medal, Oban 2003.

ALASTAIR DUNN
Alastair started piping at 8 years old, initially taught by Freddie Russell, he now receives tuition from Roddy Macleod MBE. His main successes include the Silver Medal, Inverness; B Grade March, Oban; 2nd Hornpipe and Jig, Inverness and the Northern Ireland "Piper of the Year".
Alastair is a member of four-times World Champions Field Marshall Montgomery Pipe Band. Since joining the band in 1997 he has won every major pipe band competition including the World Championships in 2002 and 2004, under the direction of P/M Richard Parkes and was acting Pipe Major of the Band from April to July 2004 winning the Scottish and All Ireland Championships.
He currently works for the Band Room and RG Hardie & Co. and is developing the new Peter Henderson Pipe Chanter along with P/M Ian MacLellan. Prior to joining the Band Room he studied at Queen’s University, Belfast, achieving a Masters Degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.
