On this pipe I've used violet rosewood for both the drones and the chanter. It is a fine, close-grained wood which is very pleasant to work and has a very attractive colour and texture to it. It has also produced a rich warm sound both in the drones and in the chanter.
To provide contrast and added interest I made the common stock in cocobolo and the chanter stock in mgurure. It's the first time I've tried using different types of wood in the same instrument.
