THE COMPETITORS and GUEST OF HONOUR:
There were 42 entries for this contest, by far the largest entry for many years. After three teams scratched on the day, we started the day with one team in the Juvenile section, twenty-one in Grade 4, twelve in Grade 3, and five in the Open MSR. The local bands taking part were the Scots Guards Association (Manchester), Greater Manchester Fire Service, Chorley, Liverpool Scottish, Bolton Scottish, North Manchester, Wirral and the City of Sheffield. There were also two bands from outside the Branch: West Midlands Fire Service and Kingston Scottish. Major Linden Ingram was again our judge for the day. The prizes were presented by our special guest of the day, Chief Fire Officer George Almond.
