The Rose Fletcher Memorial Competition 2024
Competitors had until May 4th to submit their entries. This allowed our judge, John Reville, a week to assess their performances. On Sunday May 12th competition went public and every competitor received their comment sheets from the judge. The results are published below. Click on any of the entries to view each performance. Competitors had the option to remain private if preferred which is why some of the links below may be dormant.

We are very grateful to McCallum Bagpipes who once again have sponsored this competition, donating a large number of prizes to be distributed among all the competitors who have taken part.

We also very grateful to John Reville for adjudicating this competition.

John comes from Waterford in the south east of Ireland. His piping career started at the age of 11 with his school pipe band, at the age of 16, he joined Saint Laurence O’Toole pipe band and enjoyed 10 seasons competing there.

At the end of the 2002 contest season, he joined the ranks of Field Marshal Montgomery where he spent the next 16 seasons and went on to enjoy multiple major championship wins including 8 Worlds Titles and 2 Grand Slams. In the 2019 season, he joined the ranks of Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia pipe band.

He is a former winner of the Northern Ireland Piper of the Year contest & the Irish Piobaireachd Society contest as well as featuring in the Piobaireachd prizes for the All-Ireland solo championships. John is a long standing solo and pipe band adjudicator with the Irish Pipe Band Association and he joined the RSPBA adjudication panel for the 2023 contest season.

He has a keen interest in Piobaireachd and has benefitted from three main influences on his tuition including Stephen Power, Andrew Wright & Roddy MacLeod over the last three decades.
